Plenty of goddesses rule the home, including the Greek goddess Hestia, her Roman counterpart Vesta, and Norse goddess Frigg. As folklore tells us that the kitchen is the heart of any home, its no surprise that Kitchen Witches can channel their energy and magickally charge whatever they prepare! Though I don’t consider myself a Kitchen Witch, I love to cook…and eat!
Cucina Aurora Kitchen Witchery is a New Hampshire-based food brand run by Kitchen Witch Dawn Aurora Hunt. Along with infused olive oils, Cucina Aurora offers other products such as coffee, dip mixes, risotto, and pasta sauce. I met Dawn briefly a very long time ago at an event, where I bought the Sun-dried Tomato Basil Love and Money Energy olive oil. I repurchased that one recently, and since I do like spicy dishes, I knew I wanted to finally give the Hot Pepper Passionate Fire Energy oil a shot. As kitchen witchery imbues magickal energy into food products, using them does get you to focus on the energy presented, in this case passion and fire.
Ingredients listed include olive oil (which is imported from Tuscany, according to the Cucina Aurora website), cayenne pepper, chipotle, granulated onion, crushed red pepper, smoked paprika, garlic, black pepper, parsley, salt, and love.
NOTE: I purchased Cucina Aurora Hot Pepper Passionate Fire Energy Infused Olive Oil at a considerable markdown at a local grocery store, as it will no longer be carried there, along with an employee discount. The price listed above is the current cost reflected on the Cucina Aurora website.
🧹HOW TO USE🧹
On the bottle’s label, Cucina Aurora recommends using it as a marinade for shrimp and chicken wings, or to dip bread in. Plus, these oils are designed to cook with or as a finisher, so the sky’s the limit.
🧹 HOW I USED IT🧹
I tried this in several different meals across a few days.
I had made a pasta sauce and I used this oil as the base to sauté some onions in. I added lean ground turkey, tomato sauce, grape tomatoes, frozen spinach, canned mushrooms, basil, and oregano. Once the sauce was done cooking, I threw in some prepared chickpea pasta. It added a really nice kick to the sauce and I obviously I didn’t have to add any pepper.
Weeks before, I mixed some into a hot farro salad with feta, cooked tomatoes, other spices, and scallions. The creaminess of the feta brought down the heat of the pepper a tad.
For a quick salad dressing, I mixed one part of this with two parts Sun-dried Tomato Basil Love and Money, and some balsamic vinegar. To dip my bread in, I again mixed two parts of Sun-dried Tomato Basil with one part Hot Pepper Passionate Fire and some grated parmesan. In both cases, the heat was still there, but not as pronounced because of the dilution.
🧹 THE MAGICK 🧹
In magickal practices, passion is ruled by the element of Fire and since certain types of peppers are hot and spicy, you get the connotation right there. I would imagine that while peppers don’t exactly qualify as an aphrodisiac, you can feel awash with the intended energy.
While I am not a huge fan of smoked paprika (I prefer sweet or hot Hungarian), it does serve as a good counterbalance for the crushed red, cayenne, and black peppers. Plus, chipotle is a bit spicy and smoky at the same time, so that also serves as a good support. That being said, if you like spicy, this will be one of your favorites.
Shake the bottle as the herbs and spices will settle down on the bottom. I would suggest tasting this straight or using a small amount in cooking to determine how spicy you want your food to be. While you shouldn’t refrigerate it, the oil does have a tendency to drip down the outside due to the bottle’s design. Therefore, wipe it off carefully and don’t touch your eyes or any sensitive areas if the oil gets on your hands.
Olive oil is considerably expensive in general, however the price point for this is quite moderate. This comes in a 12 oz bottle, and at the above price point, costs about $1.58 per ounce.
🧹 THE BREAKDOWN🧹
❤️Imported Tuscan olive oil and a lovely assortment of herbs and spices. Decent and moderate price point for product size and weight. Usage suggestions right on the bottle’s label. Fiery energy felt!
💔 Can be a bit strong for those with a lower tolerance for spice. No spout on the bottle, so some oil does leak out.
🖤Smoked paprika is a good counterbalance for the cayenne, black pepper, crushed red pepper, and chipotle. Don’t refrigerate the oil.
👀Taste or use a small amount to determine if you can tolerate the level of spice. If needed, mix with some plain olive oil or a pepper-free oil to dilute the heat a bit. Don’t touch eyes or sensitive areas if oil gets on hands.
💲IS THIS MAGICKAL PRODUCT WORTH THE MONEY? 💲
Cucina Aurora Hot Pepper Passionate Fire Energy Infused Olive Oil will get your blood boiling (in a good way)! I did feel a bit more fiery once I ate it, which is à propos as I am a fire sign! Considering the first ingredient listed is love, you can tell that a lot of it was put into it. The price point is moderate and the heat can be a bit overpowering for those that can’t tolerate it, yet the different types of pepper and the other ingredients create a depth of flavor in this oil that will make it a lovely addition to your magickal kitchen.
